Soapie is pretty sharp to mimic and try to understand what we're saying, but sometimes they have odd consequences. One thing she does now, is whenever we accidentally/unintentionally hurt her, we immediately say "I'm sorry." Like, if she's got a diaper rash and we're changing her diaper say.

She's picked up on that.

Like last night, she's got the rash and I'm trying to really gently wipe her irritated bottom. She starts streaming tears and cries out, "I'M SORRY! I'M SORRY! I'M SORRY!" She's using it in place of "OW". But all I could picture was the wife-beater guy going, "WHY DO YOU MAKE ME BEAT YOU?!" She's saying it in her most pained little voice and it really makes me feel like scum, for totally the wrong reasons.

*sigh*

Why are you being cruel to my darling grand daughter ? Use something that won't irritate her diaper rash and do it carefully too, i'ed hate to have to come up there and put knots on yore gourd haha. These things are part of having young kids so don't get shook bout it son.
