STRANGE OBSESSION
Kevin Williams
1968-2000

Kevin was an outsider throughout his life; early on his peers in public school shunned him, and his struggle with dislexia kept him behind in school by several years. Howard Mallard (Kevin's eighth grade English teacher) had this to say: "Kevin was... odd. Everyone knew there was something unusual about that kid. But, we never suspected anything like that."

It was in high school that Kevin took his first steps into what would become an obession that would one day consume him. His grades (already low) plumeted as he spent more time with his growing obsession.

After barely graduating high school with a GPA of 2.01 Kevin went from one job to another, looking for a place where he could blend in and dissapear. Frank Hibbard was one of Kevin's co-workers during his time working at a Kinko's in Tacoma Washington (1991-1992). He recalls Kevin as being 'spooky'.

KevinFollowing Kinko's Kevin worked briefly for Radio Shack in Illinois, a glass factory in Seattle, a book store in San Diego, and his final job at a 7-11 in Long Beach California, close to the abandonded warehouse where 'strange obsession' was filmed.

Each job was lost as co-workers and managers discovered Kevin's obsession. Though he tried to hide it at times, he always broke down in the end and was caught.

Only once in his adult life was Kevin denied access to his obsession, during his six-month stay in Lakeside County jail in 1994. Kevin vowed to never again get close enough to the establishment to be sent to jail ever again, and this was the start of his reclusive life in abandonded bulidings. It also guaranteed that Kevin would never get an opportunity for rehabilitation.
